Pattaya, – Thursday 7th November 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: – This was a very important event for all of our health workers, as it is the only opportunity that have to all get together and socialize amongst their fellow health care staff.

It was a warm, calm evening, and the outdoor setting a Soi Chaiyapreuk-2 was an ideal place for such a large gathering of people, because being in a wide open location, the noise level was not restricted.

The large gathering included staff from a wide range of locations, such as the Soi Buakao Health Centre, Pattaya City Hall and many other similar government organizations. In spite of our Mayor Khun Ittiphol Kunplome being unable to attend, there was very large support by officials from Pattaya City Hall.

Pattaya City Hall’s popular M/c Khun Sompon Sombat, (also known as Mr. “Sweet-Eye”), did an excellent job of conducting the extensive new year gift giving, which went on throughout the evening, This saw everyone receive a gift of some sort, and at intervals there were singers and some lively Thai dance music, where everyone joined in below the front of the stage. It was interesting to see that the ladies preferred to all dance together, so the single men resorted to dancing in there own

The buffet meal continued on throughout the evening, and so did a wide variety of entertainment, including a live band with popular singers and comedians. Speeches were kept to a minimum, but later in the evening the whole official party took to the stage, and Deputy Mayor Wiriwat Kahki made a speech of appreciation.

Our health workers in Pattaya often do not receive the recognition that they deserve, because not only do they work tirelessly to maintain you health, but they are behind the scenes preventing future epidemics and maintaining health standards throughout Pattaya City. Furthermore, health centres such as Soi Buakao, regularly run health education programs for men, women, the elderly plus also child and pre-natal care, so we owe them a vote of gratitude.
