Pattaya’s ACQUA Ristorante Italiano – Mama Mia!

This resort hotel with its stunning prime city and beach front location is the talk-of-the-town in Pattaya since its opening three years ago. This Includes the restaurants, especially “Acqua” meaning water in Latin.


Acqua is a chic, de-luxe ristorante ltaliano embedded in a romantic and elegant ambiance conveniently located on the first floor near the lobby of the luxurious Centara Grand Mirage property.

The restaurant seats 120 guest including 24 diners outside, al fresco, as the Italians say. For private parties there is a smart dining room which seats 14 persons with stunning water garden vistas.

The culinary concept is modern Italian cuisine with emphasis on seafood. Not, notwithstanding pizza’s baked in a wood fired stone oven, with all the toppings (and more) to choose from.


The kitchen brigade is under the command of Chef Alberto Bruni, an accomplished Italian Chef who adores cooking but also a high-tech guy, who introduced i-Pad menus for the customers.

Acqua also boasts of a comprehensive wine list Italian, of course. Sparkling, Spumante, red wines, vino rosso and white wines, vino bianchi and a fine selection of grappas.


The PDN-team kicked off with the imported Parma Ham hand carved by our chef Bruni, including all the condiments: salami, cheese and cantaloupe melon. What is Parma Ham? The origin is the great culinary town of Parma, Northern Italy. Today one of the most famous hams in the world. Original Parma ham can be tad salty and this is why you always eat it with melon to reduce the saltiness of the ham. This dish was accompanied by a healthy endive salad, celery, apple and orange, grapes and honey coated walnuts. All imported veggies from Belgium. Fresh and crispy vegetables matching the variety of fruits and the honey coated walnuts. Bravo!

Onwards to one of the biggest Italian classics: Spaghetti! Here Chef Bruni served us a mouth watering Spaghetti with Canadian Lobster or Italian spaghetti and imported delectable, juicy Canadian lobster in garlic virgin olive oil, chilli, sautéed artichokes and lobster bisque jus. Wow! Al-dente Italian spaghetti meets North Atlantic lobster. Super-extra delicious!


The next item served is the Guinea Fowl Risotto or pancetta wrapped pan roasted guinea fowl on risotto with boletus mushroom and black truffle salsa. This is a dish that takes long time to prepare and the result: Savory aroma, and guaranteed lip smacking good, to the bite.

The final is a meat lovers dish, par excellence: Australian Wagyu No. 4 Rib Set served with rosemary potato, rocket salad, balsamic and extra virgin olive oil. Accompanied by a set of extra fine sauce & special selection of imported salts. Our Chef Bruni whispers, that this is the most delicious and tender meat in the world. Perfectly matched by the exquisite sauce and unique imported salt collection. I agree, totally. I am a meat lover, too. Oh, yes!


La Grande Finale! The Italian classic desserts duo. Panna cotta with a wild berry compote and Tiramisu; meaning “pick me up”. These two Italian desserts are today world famous – no wonder. Sweet, creamy, layered, elegant and so Italian. Don’t have one – have two. Desserts to die for!

In all, the Acqua culinary experience was hands down ab-so-lute-ly…de-lici-ous!

This is Italian cuisine – as good as it gets. Compliments, chapeau to Chef Alberto Bruni, his kitchen team and the impeccable restaurant service. A most memorable evening and a great introduction to one of world’s finest cuisines.
