It was time for Pattaya’s elderly pensioners to celebrate the 2010 New Year, and Pattaya City Hall obligingly put on a party celebration for them in their large meeting room on the fourth floor.

Pattaya, – Friday 8th January 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: – Instead of a normal meeting where serious issues are often discussed, our senior citizens were treated to a fun filled day of singing and dancing competitions, that included many prizes to be won.

Over four hundred elderly pensioners came along to join in, either as spectators or performers, before a panel of judges, who skillfully selected the top entertainers. After a short late morning break, many of our officials from City Hall came to sit in on the singing & dancing finals, then to help with the prize presentations.

So how did our “Golden Oldies” stack up as performers in these competitions? Surprisingly good, – and while greater age may have slowed down their dancing of fast steps a little, there was certainly no lack of singing ability.

Many of our senior citizens have been highly professional singers & stage performers earlier in their lives, so there was no lack of talent. Both the men and ladies, who were competing for prizes, sang with clear, powerful voices equal to their younger descendants in the community.

Not only this, but we should never forget that our elderly citizens have had many more years of experience dealing with life’s inevitable problems, so there is much to be learned by listening to their advice. Our community has an obligation to respect & care for these elderly citizens, who have given so much in past decades, and still have more to give, by offering the younger generation some sound advice on many matters.
