Pattaya, 13th March 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 6 a.m., Police Captain Somchai Chaikananukoon Assistant Inspecting Officer of Pattaya Department, Chonburi was informed that a foreigner caught a Thai ladyboy stealing his cash at Pattaya beach (around Mike Shopping Mall, Pattaya Beach Rd, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi). The police captain and his team hurried to the crime scene.

At the scene, Mr. Michael, a 30-year-old Irish man, was seizing the suspect, Mr. Kasem Amporn, a 25-year-old ladyboy (residing at 136 Moo.5 Nonglom, Dokkamtai, Payao). The victim informed the police that while he was walking home, Mr. Kasem and two of Mr. Kasem’s friends tried to offer him sexual services. When Mr. Michael rejected the offer, the ladyboys besieged the victim and pickpocketed his cash – worth of 1,000 Baht. The suspects ran away immediately as soon as they took the money. Fortunately, the victim caught one of the suspects, Mr. Kasem, while the other two escaped.

Mr. Kasem defended that he did not steal the money, but his friends did. The suspect challenged the police to check his body for the stolen money. The police searched but found nothing.

However, the victim insisted that Mr. Kasem was the one who took his money. Other witnesses were present to confirm the victim’s story. Hence the suspect’s denying statement became invalid. Eventually the suspect succumbed to the accusation. The ladyboy offered to pay back all the money but the victim persisted to charge the suspect. Police took the suspect to custody and questioned him further for more information about his accomplices.
