Pattaya, the 25th of May 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 1:00pm on Tuesday, police Lieutenant Colonel Chatchai Srisuwan (Pattaya Police Investigator) along with the Sawang Boriboon Foundation were called to investigate the death of a foreign man who had been found dead inside his room at the Country Apartments in Central Pattaya.

At the scene, police discovered the partially decomposed, naked body, of Mr. Raymond George Kennington [58] a British national, lying on the floor of his apartment. Investigations of Mr. Kennington’s room revealed no immediate signs of a struggle or foul play whilst a medical examination did not present any signs that an assault or murder had occured.

Police interrogated Mrs. Atsadankorn Boonjarern [35], the apartment landlord, who stated that on Monday the 24th she had smelt a foul odour emanating from one of the various apartments near Mr. Kennington’s, on the third floor, but had not investigated it further until on Tuesday it had become much worse. Mrs. Boonjarern revealed that she had suspected the smell might have been coming from Mr. Kennington’s room, after she had knocked on the door several times with no reply, also stating that she had not seen him for several days. Not wishing to enter the room alone, fearing that the foul odour may be a result of Mr. Kennington’s death, she called police to come and investigate the situation.

Mrs. Boonjarern advised that Mr. Kennington had been living in the apartment for approximately 6 years and had always been a fairly jovial and pleasant tenant. She mentioned that the deceased had seemingly got a penchant for golf and fishing whilst he was regularly seen drinking wine and whiskey at the bars in the local area.

At present police speculate that Mr. Kennington may have died of a heart attack although his body has now been sent to the Forensic Science Institute for a post-mortem examination at which point the British Embassy in Bangkok will be informed of the death.
