Panic at Pattaya Condo Danish Couple Flee Kitchen Fire

A luxury condominium catches fire at night, a Danish couple flee for their lives. The police assumes they forgot but forgot to turn on the ventilation fan in the kitchen.

PATTAYA – March 18,2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol.Lt.Col. Pumipat Namputtra- Pattaya police station was notified about a fire at a Jomtien Beach Residence: 344/16-72 in Chomtian beach, Soi 9, Banglamung

At the scene of the incident a seven story condominium where the fire was located in room # 410 on the the 3 rd floor.Thick smoke coming out from the terrace caused the condominium dwellers to panic.They all packed their belongings and carried their children out of the building.

 

The firemen said that fire originated from the ventilation fan in the kitchen. The fire was extinguished by spraying water on the flames for 10 minutes. The firebrigade managed to contain to fire to the kitchen area.

The occupants, a Danish tourists couple rushed out of their bed room without any clothes, but some kind neighbours brought them towels to cover their bodies.They were choking from the smoke and they had burns on their arms and legs.The rescue team provided first aid and sent them to the hospital.

 

The investigation revealed one of the victims is Mr.Tofte, age 61 Danish citizen. He was sleeping with his wife in their bedroom and suddenly awaken by the fire.He and his wife ran through the flames out of their bedroom.

The police believes the cause of the fire could be the fact that they forgot to turn on the ventilation fan in the kitchen. A forensic investigation will follw to find the true cause of fire.
