Pakistani Terrorist Arrested In Pattaya

Police and soldiers joined forces to arrest a Pakistani terrorist convicted of bombing a city in India.

PATTAYA – January 5,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 19.30 pm Pol.Maj.Gen.Nitipong Niemnoi-commander of Chonburi-, was accompanied with Pol.Col.Suttisak Wantee-superintendent of Nong Prue police station-, Pol.Lt.Col.Kongsak Boonsuesuwan-deputy superintendent-, Maj.Col.Suppaset Maliwong-director of order and peace maintaining division of 14th Military circle-, police and soldiers attended a house in Soi Mabyailea 7 after they found out that Mr.Gurmeet Singh 37 year old Pakistani was resident there who was convicted of carrying out a terrorist act in Panyad, India in 1995.


Upon inspecting they found Mr.Ali Alat aged 48 Pakistani, the house owner and Mr.Gurmeet inside the house, officials took them to Nong Prue police station in order to question them further. Mr.Ali said that on 1 January Mr.Gurmeet called him and told him to stay with him for few days because his passport was expired and he also offered 30,000 baht to him for staying. Mr Ali claimed he didn’t know that his guest was a suspected terrorist.


Pol.Maj.Gen.Nitipong revealed that Mr.Gurmeet was one of the convicted terrorists who bombed Panyad, India in 1995. In that incident, there were 17 people killed including the Mayor and followers. Later he was sentenced by the court to be jailed in the year. He and nine men escaped from the prison in 2000 having dug a hole to escape. Indian officials circulated arrest warrants to the countries around the world including Thailand. Later the officials found out that he was hiding in this house before arresting him. Officials notified the Indian embassy to deport him. While Mr.Ali would be prosecuted on charge of giving accommodation for terrorist.​
