PATTAYA – June 6,2016 [PattayaDailyNews]; Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakphan, chief of tourist police, went to Pattaya City Hall in order to discuss on measurement to prevent marine accident. Recently, a foreigner died from parasailing above Pattaya beach.
The conference was attended by representatives from TAT Chonburi branch, Pattaya official, Marine Department, tourist police, marine police, Pattaya police and concerned sectors.
Piyapong En-Sarn, inspector of tourist police, said that Pattaya is one of the most famous marine tourist attraction in Thailand. Plus, there have been around 2.5 million tourists coming to Pattaya during the first quarter.
The major group of tourists are Chinese, Indian and Korean and the marine activity becomes popular. About 15,000 tourists enjoy marine everyday and several boat trips to Ko Lan island.
Previously, Pattaya official and marine department laughed “Pattaya Model” in order to control marine traffic; however, marine accident still took place and led to 11 dead and 10 injured. Some of them had health problem.
Pol Maj Gen Surachet revealed that the official had inspected parasailing operator, this kind of marine activity is covered by “Pattaya Model”. Nevertheless, the official would have continuously monitored them for a long term.
He added that the officials and concerned sectors have to collaborate each other in order to find the best solution and cope the problem sustainably. In addition, the officials aim “Pattaya Model” as prototype and they would apply to Hua-Hin, Samui and Phuket further.
