PATTAYA – May 20,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at PattayaCity Hall, Mr.Ronnakit Aekasing-deputy mayor of Pattaya- was accompanied with representatives from the department of rural roads, transportation and engineering division, the contractor in charge of the Central Pattaya tunnel construction to explicate to perators and village leaders.

Previously the construction had been heavily criticized on social media sites that it had affected the daily life local people, especially those who live close to the construction. Also students have been affected because they couldn’t get to school.

The officers from the department of rural road said that they needed to close some roads because they had to move some big trees and remove a lot of surface soil.

Also they needed the land to store the heavy plant machinery which is needed for the tunnel construction.

The officers also needed to dredge both sides of the Sukhumvit road by the end of June in order to install a new drainage system which will drain from Pattaya to a water treatment plant in Nong Yai district. As a result of this they had to temporary close the Siam Country Club road.

Also the officials will close 2 lanes on both sides of the road but they will provide temporary roads on both sides and hope to complete it soon as possible.

Mr.Ronnakit said that this project is very crucial for Pattaya and he knows that local people will be affected but he will try to solve the problems that people are having as soon as possible.

It’s expected that the closure of Siam Country Club road will cause a lot of traffic congestion so the officials had to change the direction of the traffic to ease the congestion.
