Official To Intensify On Overstaying Expats

The official is legislating a new law to intensify on foreigner immigration. The law would be enforced on March, 20.

PATTAYA-10 March- [PattayaDailyNews]; At Discovery Beach Pattaya hotel, Pol.Lt.Col.Natthathorn Prosunthorn- commander of immigration bureau- chaired the conference to ban some expat immigration. The conference had been attended by hoteliers, guides, education institutions and private sectors.

 

The official aimed to clarify the strict rules and discuss about the best measurement to control those aliens who overstay according to immigration law. The law has been legislated and would be enforced on March 20, 2016.

 

According to the law, those alien who surrender with the officers over 90 days would be banned to immigrate for a year, who overstayed for 1 year would be banned for 3 years, who overstayed for 3 years would be banned for 5 years and who overstayed for 5 years would be banned for a decade.

 

Pol.Lt.Gen.Natthathorn added that there are around 40,000 aliens in Chonburi because Pattaya is tourism city. Of 40,000 expats, 26,682 persons live their life after retirement, 5,212 persons stay for work and 5,212 persons have Thai family excluding tourists.

 

After March 20th, those foreigners would be filtered and the law would strongly remind them. In addition, immigration bureau would count on international measurement to filter and distinguish the criminal.

 

In addition, Immigration Bureau would share the information of transnational criminal between Interpol so that they would be able to effectively filter the criminal. Immigration bureau in SuratThani, Chiangmai, NongKai and Phuket would perform as the same standard.
