Office Of Social Development And Human begins Re-Regulation

Ministry of Social Development and Human Security rushes to reregulate vagabonds and beggars all over Thailand simultaneously for the 3rd time during January 26-30, 2015 in order for human trafficking protection and reduction of differences in society.

PATTAYA – January 26, 2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at Pattaya City Hall, Chon Buri province, Mr. Somdej Naenudorn (Head of Office of Social Development and Human Security of Chon Buri province) was the chairman of a meeting of reregulating vagabonds and beggars in Chon Buri province which the chiefs of government sectors and the representatives of related organizations came to attend the meeting together.


Mr. Somdej Naenudorn (Head of Office of Social Development and Human Security of Chon Buri province) said that after the government sector had suppressed groups of beggars then various beggars have been spreading to the big cities such as Chiang Mai, Pattaya, etc. which they changed the style of begging to be the selling of goods such as flowers, toffies, playing music instruments, etc. in exchanging for money that made trouble and annoyed tourists so much. It was found that 80% of beggars were Cambodian children and the rest were Burmese, Laotian and Thai children.


Today there was the meeting held in order to consult about preparing the operation officers to reregulate vagabonds and beggars and to sort out the victims from human trafficking gangs in 3 areas of Chon Buri province which consist of Si Racha – Aow Udom – Laem Chabang, zone of Amphur Mueang Chon Buri and zone of Banglamung – Pattaya – Sattahip. For the zone of Banglamung – Pattaya – Sattahip will be operated during January 26 -30, 2015 that will use The Center for Helping people with Social problems as the operation center which is located near Sukhumvit Soi 3 road. For the leading area that will be reregulated firstly are Wat Chaimongkhon market, Tukcom Pattaya and area of Pattaya beach road.


For the operation process is that when the officers can arrest any beggars then they will be detained to investigate for the facts and the officers will make a record of their history, screen and submit subsequently. The method of submitting subsequently is that if the beggars are Thai children then they will be temporarily taken care at Chon Buri Shelter for Children and Families and the officers will follow up for their families by cooperating with the local and related organizations to adjust for the living conditions of their families but if such child beggars do not have any parents or guardians then they will be sent to Mitmaitree Children House and if they are alien beggars then their families will be sent to an immigration office in order to be repatriated back to their home countries further.
