North Pattaya’s Chinese Performance

A large selection of Pattaya City Hall officials including Mayor, Itthiphol Khunplome, set the stage for a great evening of Chinese entertainment at Larn Poh, which lies at the northern end of North Pattaya’s Naklua Road. The pole climbing dragon, plus s many other acrobatic, musical and dancing acts made for a varied night of entertainment.

Pattaya, 3 February 2011- This was a very colourful evening featured many high ranking Pattaya City Hall officials, who made up the bulk of the VIP’s and looked magnificent in their bright red Chinese coats. After an eloquent speech by Mayor Itthiphol Khunplome the VIP guests settled down in a pavilion to enjoy some high quality traditional entertainment by acrobats and musicians.A variety of two man dragon dancers, complimented the long dragon that danced in front of the official party to the rhythmic beat of drums and cymbals, them performed the popular feat of climbing to the top of a very high but sturdy pole.

 

The big dragon was joined high up on a separate pole, where a battle ensued and ended in lots of fireworks for this very impressive performance. Other dancers and musicians were also very impressive, with the well known Bangkok entertainer and singer known as “Peter-45,” put on a great singing show for the hundreds of onlookers.Many people of Chinese descent travel to Pattaya and thoroughly enjoy the three days of entertainment that is organized by Pattaya City Hall and the local Chinese community, and the Chinese New Year is very important to these people.

 

This is a time to review the past year and look forward to the new “Year of the Rabbit” with great anticipation for further good luck. All Chinese people greatly appreciate the efforts that are made by Pattaya City to make them welcome and help them enjoy their stay in our happy holiday city.
