Nong Nooch Gardens Opens For Songkran Festival

The Mayor of Pattaya has opened the Songkran festival at Nong Nooch gardens 2014 called "Maha Songkran with Blooming Flowers" thousands of tourists are expected to join in the heritage festival.

PATTAYA – April 13,2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pattaya mayor Mr.Ittipon Khunpluem, went to open the festival “Mahasongkran with Blooming Flower” at Nongnuch garden, Na jomtein Sattahip. Mr Phawat Lertmukda ,sattahip, Sattahip sheriff, Dr Kampol Tansajja the director of Nongnuch park, Mrs.Pattanan Khantisukpan, general manager joined in the opening ceremony among thousands of tourists who also came to join the festival from 12-18 April.

Mr.Ittipol Khunpluem, Pattaya mayor, said that this year’s Songkran festival in Pattaya City had joined with Nong Nooch Garden and the local administrative organization to make this year’s festival bigger than previous years, under the slogan “Maha Songkran with Blooming Flowers at Nong Nooch Garden” .The joining of the two festivals is to keep the tradition inherited from the past, and to promote cultural tourism.

This year at the gardens there will be a “Songkran Beauty Kids” contest, flower cars, Buddha parade for the tourists to pour water to worship Buddha. Also 20 elephants will spray water over the Songkram revellers to make this year’s festival more fun. There will also be 9 sacred elephants who will pour water to worship Buddha.

“Maha Songkran with Blooming Flowers at Nong Nooch Garden” is the main tourist attraction of the year, and there are a lot of tourists from around the world who take part. The festival is expected to make several million THB and builds a good image for the tourism of Thailand.
