On 12 December 2007, at 12:30am, Deputy Superintendent Police Lieutenant Colonel Chartchai Ruenthawin, Pattaya Investigation, was informed that there had been a robbery of French tourists in a rented room, located at 137/10 Moo 10, near the flyover to Bali Hai Pier, South Pattaya, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi. A police team rushed to the scene of the crime to investigate.

At the scene, Room 2, Mr. Annisse Rannane (23) and Mr. Delil Secen (18), the victims, who are French nationals, recounted to the police that when they were leaving their hotel, they encountered two kratoeys who offered them a Thai massage and sexual services. The two hapless victims followed the kratoeys into a room that the suspects had rented. Once in the room, they were instructed to disrobe in preparation for their massage and extra services. After a short time, two masked men, with guns, forced the victims to lie down on the floor. The miscreants went through the Frenchmen’s belongings and took everything they could find. The losses were estimated at more than four thousand Euros, in cash. When they were finished robbing the two men, all four bandits rode away on motorbikes.

Mr. Rannane and Mr. Secen were disillusioned that a group of Thais, who were in the room next door drinking whiskey, did not offer them any assistance in recalling the appearance of the robbers. When police questioned them, they said that they didn’t know anything about the crime, as it had happened inside another room. The perpetrators had just rented the room for one day, for the purpose of committing a crime against some potential victims. Police were unable to retrieve any evidence from the rented room. However, they will continue their investigation and arrest this group of outlaws as soon as possible, so they can be brought to justice.
