Pattaya, 1 June 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 17.20, Pol. Lt. Col. Winai Horien (Banglamung Police Investigator) was informed of a major accident on Road No. 36 under Ban Pong bridge in the direction towards Pattaya.
Upon arrival at the scene, the collision between NGV-gas truck and 18-wheeled trailer sent black smoke and fire billowing high into the sky, an officer reported.

The truck driver was found unconscious and immediately transported to the hospital, the officer added.
Six fire trucks from Pong Ans Nong Prue fire department and Sawang Boriboon Foundation team took approximately forty minutes to extinguish the fire.

The 18-wheeled truck driver, Teerapong Ngahmkaeng, 25 of Nakorn Ratchasima told the police he pulled the truck over to the side road because the rear tire was flat.

When he saw the NGV truck carrying gas tanks approached his parked truck at a high speed, he got out of his vehicle immediately, Teerapong said adding that the NGV collided into the rear end of his truck resulting in the fire explosion.

The police will charge Teerapong for careless parking while waiting for the NGV truck driver to recover for further questioning.
