NEWSPAPER DELIVERY TRUCK CRASHES INTO A TRAILER, DRIVER SEVERELY INJURED

Daily News newspaper delivery truck, No. 202, was coming back after newspaper delivery in Rayong province. The driver dozed off and crashed into a trailer. He was stuck into the steering wheel and severely injured.

On 12 October 2007, at 05.30 AM, Pol.Lt. Vinai Ho-ruen, Banglamung was notified of a Daily News newspaper delivery truck crashed into a trailer and the driver had severe injury. The accident was on the Road No. 36, between 20th -21st kilometer, from Rayong to Chonburi. Officials and Sawang boriboon rescue rushed to the scene.
At the incident, a white Isuzu truck, license 97-1727, Bangkok, which was a Daily News delivery truck, No. 202, had crashed into a white Isuzu trailer, license 73-4274, Bangkok, belonged to WiniThai company ltd. Mr. Chaiwat Thasanaphanphet, (39) from Payao province, the driver of newspaper truck was stuck into the steering wheel, and cried with pain.
Sawang boriboon rescue used the tools to widen the crash for about thirty minutes and took Mr. Chaiwat out with difficulty. Both of his legs were severely injured to the bones. He was suffocated as he had been crushed into the steering wheel. Officials immediately transferred him to Bangkok Pattaya hospital for help and examination.

Mr. Wirat Chinphakdee (37), trailer driver, from Kamphangphet province, did not get any injury. He said that he was driving a trailer with content of Sodium hydroxide, on the way to a paper factory in Prajeenburi province.

During his attempt to take over a truck, suddenly, the newspaper delivery truck came on a very high speed to crash into his trailer without slowing down. It was like the driver was having a doze off. He immediately stopped the trailer and found Mr. Chaiwat was stuck into the steering wheel of the truck he was driving. He attempted to take Mr.Chaiwat out but not succeeded then he called police for help.

Official is assuming that Mr.Chaiwat, was probably driving in a very high speed after the newspaper delivery in Rayong. During the journey back to Bangkok, he might have dozed off, then crashed into the trailer and had severe injury. However, officials had recorded the incident and informed the insurance of both parties to examine the damage. However, officials will have to inquire the two parties for the real cause of the accident as well.
