Sriracha, the 12th of January 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: The Director of Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology Dr. Somporn Jorngkham conducted a guided tour – for the gathered media – on the inner workings and processes behind the operation of a new high tech X-ray device, installed at the Laem Chabang Port in Sriracha. Over 50 reporters and cameramen were present to witness the demonstration.

The new X-ray device is designed to fully investigate the contents of a shipping container without the need physically open it. The use of such technology will significantly cut down the amount of customs corruption and also make the search for illegal or dangerous goods much easier. It is expected that once the technology is fully implemented the efficiency of the port officers involved in loading and unloading ships will increase significantly.
