Pattaya; – Saturday, 7th November 2009 (PDN): – At the Thai Polo & Equestrian Club’s facilities off east Pattaya’s Siam Country Club Road, Derby Show Jumping and the FEI World Dressage Challenge 2009 events took place in a four day event. The centre of attention was the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup, and these competitions are an annual event.

One very happy winner was the was the new Bangkok entrant of the Dressage Event, Khun “A,” who stated that it was the first time he had competed in Pattaya, and had only visited the competitions previously as a spectator. However, he regularly comes to the nearby Horseshoe Point Country Club and Resort to train and receive coaching in dressage riding.

Khun “A“ stated that although he has been horse riding for a number of years, it was only recently that he decided to give up his job and concentrate full time on riding. He went on to say that his parents will be excited with his winning performance, as they probably do not realize his amount of dedication to the equestrian sport.

Both Khnn “A” and his horse delivered a faultless presentation before FEI judges Mr. Mariano Santos (Spain) and Mrs. Maja Stukelj Aja Stukelj (Slovenia), plus the event director M/s Magrit Hoffman (Germany).

Of course he dreams of winning further events, with a big long term vision of one day becoming a coach. It is interesting to observe that the world’s top Polo Coach, Mr. Reggie Withers, spends the S.E. Asian Polo Season instructing players at the nearby Horseshoe Point Country Club and Resort. This attracts a huge number of overseas polo players to Thailand, who make it a point of enrolling at the Horseshoe Point Country Club, in order to receive training from the best in the sport of Polo.

In conjunction with training horse riders, the Thai Deputy Minister for Education also attended as the VIP guest, and signed a “memorandum of understanding” with Polo Club President Mr. Harald Link. This will allow more children to undertake vocational training via the Thai Polo & Equestrian Club.
