New High Speed Ferry Ports

The construction of 3 new ferry ports that will link Pattaya to Hua Hin, Pran Buri, and Bangphu is due to be completed in the middle of 2016. It will reduce travel time from 6-7 hours down to only 3 hours.

THAILAND – April 17,2015 [PattayaDailyNews]; ACM.Prajin Chantong-minister of transportation- revealed that he had ordered the marine department to look into the construction of 3 new ferry ports which will connect the East and the West. They intend to construct the new ports at 3 different landmarks which are Pattaya, Cha-Am and Huahin. In addition, it’s expected that it will reduce travelling time from 6-7 hours to only 3 hours.

 

The Marine Department had been making plans for the new ports since 2012 and it’s expected that the construction will be finished by the middle of 2016. Private sectors have already invested in the 4 year project and will need around 400,000 million baht budget to complete. A Catamaran style Ferry which can carry 450 passengers and 33 cars and can travel at 82 kph will be used.

 

The proposed routes are:
1.Pattaya-HuaHin-Pran Buri
2.BangPhu-Huahin-Pran Buri
3.Bangphu-Pattaya
The proposed additional routes are:
1.BangPhu-KoChang
2. BangPhu-Samui island
3. BangPhu—Song Kla (380 miles)
It’s expected that 3 million people and 200,000 vehicles will use the service every year.
