Nederlander Randomly Beaten By Bikers In Pathum Thani

A 47-year-old Dutch man was beaten for no apparent reason by a gang of teens on motorbikes in Pathum Thani. The teen thugs then escaped. The man suffered several cuts and bruises. Police rushed to investigate witnesses and inspect the CCTV footage to find the suspects.

PATHUM THANI – March 18, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1:40 a.m., a report of a foreigner being beaten and injured was received by Pol. Lt. Col. Thanawat Sumanus, Investigation Inspector on duty, Khlong Luang police station. He rushed to inspect the scene with the inspector police team and Ruam Katanyu rescue officers.

The incident occurred in Soi Manhattan hotel in front of Pin Thong stationery in Tambon Khlong Neung, Amphur Khlong Luang.

At the scene, arriving officers found the foreign victim sitting in front of the stationery store. He was beaten and slashed with a knife. There was wound at his left eyebrow about 2 cm long, and he had a nosebleed and a wound at his right elbow.

Ruam Katanyu rescue officers performed first aid before sending him to Tharmmasart Chalermphrakiet hospital. The injured victim was identified as Mr. Dijk Nicolaas, age 47, nationality Netherlander.

Serving as an intrepreter was Mr. Wallop Karnkasem, age 30. Mr. Wallop revealed that the injured victim was staying in Manhattan hotel for the third day when the incident occurred. The Dutch man was walking to the entertainment center at the end of Soi Manhattan. When he arrived at front of Bowl game shop, he was beaten by a group of teenagers driving motorbikes, who then escaped.

A nearby vendor who witnessed the incident also described what happened to police. He saw the foreign man walking to the end of Soi Manhattan hotel, which has many entertainment centers. When the foreigner arrived at front of Bowl game internet café, there were approximately 6 teenagers driving 3-4 motorbikes who drove up. Three of the teens got off their bikes to beat the foreign man. Then they escaped to Phaholyothin road.

Pol. Lt. Col. Thanawat Sumanus revealed that initially he let the detective officers investigate the witnesses at incident, and inspect the CCTVs along the route used by the suspects.

Police will investigate the injured victim to find the cause of this incident in order to follow up to arrest the troublemakers to prosecute further according to the law.
