The incident occured in soi PornPraphanimit 6. One of the thieves trying to escape had climbed up to the roof of a house of a resident to cross to soi Pornpraphanimit 8. However, a plainclothes police officer who witnessed the incident shot the man so he could not escape. The man was arrested in the middle of soi Pornpraphanimit 8 (Siam Country club golf court).

When police arrived at the scene in the middle of the soi, many residents and more than 20 police volunteers encircled the man who had been shot. He was lying on the ground and crying out with pain. He had many tattoos on his body, and the circle of people surrounding him were cursing him.

The thief was identified as Mr. Aran Phumisang, 22 years old. He was shot in his right thigh by a gun of unknown caliber. He had been carrying a brown leather bag that contained a cell phone, cash, and some powder.

When questioned by police, Mr. Aran confessed to snatching the girl’s necklace. He had been a passenger on a motorcycle, but got off the motorbike to steal the necklace. The police will follow to monitor the thief in the hospital to prevent him from escaping.

The female victim told police that her necklace was fake gold, and the thief had dropped it at the scene while trying to escape. The plainclothes police who shot the thief lives nearby, but declined to give his name. So the officer ordered the thief to stop, but the thief continued to run on the roofs tiles and damaging them, so he had to shoot the thief to make him stop. Nearby residents also helped catch the thief after he was shot. The police officers questioned the plainclothes police officer and the victim to record their testimony for evidence.
