Nearly Ten Thousand Red Shirt Supporters Participate in Pattaya Rally

In the evening of 23rd June 2009 thousands of red-shirt supporters attended a rally held by the Pattaya-Chonburi Democracy lovers association.

The rally, under the banner “The Truth Today, Who Hurt Thailand”, was held at a 15 rai private plot of land in front of Soi Kaotalow, Sukumvit, Moo. 10, Nongprue, and was attended by most of the red shirt leaders including Mr. Jatuporn Prompun, Peuthai party MP, Mr. Natthawut Saikuea, a UDD core leader, Dr. Weng Tohjiragarn, Mr. ArismunPongreungrong, Mr. Kwanchai Praipana, the Director of U-dorn lovers association and The “ Rak Chaingmai 51 Group”.

The leaders took turns making speeches, mostly reminding the red shirt supporters to get together and fight for real democracy. Many vendors were selling red items and food. At 9.00 pm, the former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra made a phone-in for about 20 minutes. He expressed his thanks to his supporters for fighting for democracy in Pattaya, Chonburi and all around the eastern part of Thailand. He also thanked the Sakonnakorn people who supported the PeuaThai party [his new party] by voting for his party members and winning the local election recently.

He also said now he was now 60 but he could still come back to do a lot for the country even if he is 65, and he would still try and work hard to help the poor people. At the end of his 20 minutes talk, he asked his supporters to join the anti government rally on the 27th June 2009 in Bangkok.

Mr. Arismun announced strongly on the stage that if the government fights against the Red Shirt Demonstration on the 27th June by using any harmful weapons, the Red Shirt People all around Thailand would stand up and carry weapons to fight starting at each Provincial city hall.

Mr. Jatuporn finally announced that their mission on the 27th June would be counted as the first shot in the battle to close down the government , including the army and groups of people who support this government. They want every Thai to be equal and be treated to the same standard.
