Navy Inspects Entertainment Spots in Pattaya

Navy officers that belong to Sattahip Naval Base have inspected entertainment spots in Pattaya after they were informed that most of the pubs’ security guards are the sailors and like to assault tourists.

PATTAYA – June 30, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 2.00 a.m., Captain Khomphan Ouppalanon (Director of Joint Operations and Intelligence) together with the officers of Naval Military Police, forces of navy officers from Sattahip Naval Base and Pol.Lt.Col. Aroon Phromphan (Inspector) went to inspect entertainment spots in Walking Street and each venues security guards as they think they can take the law into their own hands as most of them are sailors and work in security part-time. The order was given after an Indian tourist was assaulted by 2 security guards.

 

The officers were then sent out to search for 2 guards who had assaulted an Indian tourist and once arriving in walking street they found 2 guards standing outside a pub so the officers questioned them and found out that they were sailors from Sattahip Naval Base. They were identified as Chief Petty Officer First Class Surasak Khajornboot, aged 34, who belongs to Naval Ordnance Department and Petty Officer First Class Anuwat Taengkhaen, aged 24, who belongs to the Royal Thai Fleet. They were then taken for further investigation at Sattahip Naval Base.

It was ordered by The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) to inspect all the officers of the armed forces who didn’t behave accordingly to the armed forces’ rules and regulations. Initially, if the 2 guards are found out to have committed the offenses they will be prosecuted according to the navy’s rules and regulations.
