Navy Hospital Organizes Charity Mini Marathon For Queen‘S Birthday

In celebration of the Queen‘s Birthday (Mother‘s Day), on August 12, 2008, Somdet Pranang Jao Siritkit Hospital Foundation is organising two charity events: one a 3 km.walk and the other a 10.5 km. mini marathon for which the prize of the Royal trophy of Queen Sirikit will be awarded. The organisers would like to invite all interested individuals to join either event.

Rear Admiral Nikorn Petchweerakul, Director of Somdet Pranang Jao Siritkit Hospital, Navy base, Plu-taluang, Sattahip, made the announcement about the Walking for Health charity walk and Mini Marathon on August 6. The competitors will be divided into various age groups. For both males and females, the age groups of will be: under 17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49. And for male competitors only, three extra: between 50-59, 60-69 and over 70-years-old.

The 10.5 km. Mini Marathon will start from the Health Garden Court of the hospital, going via Juk-samed Pier, turning left through the gate of U-Tapao International Airport and continuing for about 2 kilometers, turning left again to go along the route of U-Tapao Airport and turning back in front of the monument of Admiral Gromalueng Chumporn Ket-udomsak to enter Gate No. 5 of the hospital to the finish line.

For the 3 km. Walking for Health event, the starting point will also be at the Health Garden Court in the hospital, going along Road No. 331 to go to Juk-samed Pier, turning left at the security point of the Navy Air Force Base, passing the Sports Recreation Centre of senior commissioned officer residents, by the Health Garden, and entering Gate No. 7 to the finishing line. Both male and female over-all winners for the Mini Marathon will be presented with a trophy of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.

Rear Admiral Nikorn said that last year in this competition, there were about 3,000 people from government and private sectors, community power groups and 1,000 runners, who joined the competition. After the events are finished, the proceeds of about Bt600,000 will be presented to the Queen.
