Police Lieutenant Chot Lamom and his team rushed to the apartments, located at 358/98-99 Soi Chalermprakiat 13, Pattaya Third Road, Nongprue, where, in a bathroom shared by several residents, they found a naked woman lying on the floor crying for help. Also in the room was the owner of the apartments, Mr. Tanakit Tanaworapat (45) who was trying to help her. The victim was immediately rushed to hospital.

Police examined the area and found a one-foot long knife, covered with blood on the bathroom floor.

The apartment owner told police that the victim was Ms. Wannisa Fongnoi (22) of 118 Moo. 11 , Danchang, Supanburi, who had been living in room no. B8. He was watching TV on the ground floor when he heard someone screaming for help. He ran to the third floor and found the victim naked on the floor with a stab wound in her back.

She told Mr. Tanaworapat that the suspect was a man who lives next door to her in room no. B9. He had climbed into the bathroom and tried to rape her. She tried to resist but he stabbed her on the back, grabbed her motorbike key and ran away through the back door.

Other residents told police that the suspect had tried to sneak into women’s rooms in the same building before.

While police were questioning witnesses a woman named Mrs. Srithong (26), who works in a bar and had just come back from work, claimed that she was the suspect’s wife. His name is Mr. Sarayut (29) residing at 95 Moo. 4 Kummoung, Kanlasin province and works at the Penang Furniture shop at the corner of the Central Pattaya intersection.

Mrs. Srithong said her husband was probably the suspect because of his bad reputation of flirting around with women. She also confirmed that the knife belonged to them. She told the police that she would help them to catch him. She expected him back in their room soon because he had no money.

She was proved right two hours later when a police team who were waiting in the area saw Mr. Sarayut sneaking back into the room. Police arrested him but he denied any wrong doing claiming that he was with his friend the whole night and he had no idea what happened

On hearing this his wife ran out of patience and tried to attack him. Police had to stop her and take Mr. Sarayut to the police station for further questioning and no doubt to protect him from his wife.
