Murder Suspects Fall Short In Escape Attempt

Two Cambodians fleeing from police tried to jump from a 3rd floor balcony to the adjacent building, but fell to the ground and were severely injured. The suspects were in a gang that killed a Thai man during a minor dispute.

PATTAYA – April 28, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1 a.m., a report of two Cambodians being seriously injured trying to escape arrest was received by the radio center of Pattaya police station, Chonburi province.

The police were notified by Pol. Capt. Phithakthep Saithong, Deputy Inspector, Banglamung police station, Chonburi province. He asked for backup support from the police team and the rescue officers to assist him, after he brought the forces of the detective police team to arrest a Cambodian gang accused of killing a Thai man by using a knife to cut his neck.

The incident occurred on April 24, 2013 in Soi Noree, Na Kleua. The detective police team of Banglamung police station then arrested Mr. Wee, who is the head of the gang, but 3 other gang members avoided capture.

They escaped to stay at a room in the rental building in Soi south Pattaya 15, behind Chaimongkhol temple market, Moo 10 Tambon Nong Preu, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

So the police followed up to arrest the 3 defendants but could arrest only 1 defendant. The other 2 defendants climbed the balcony of the 3rd floor room to escape, and tried to jump across to the adjacent building. But they fell down from the third floor to the ground and got severely injured.

So the police captain asked for the supporting forces of police team to bring the injured defendants to the hospital. After being notified, the police of Pattaya police station and the rescue officer of Sawangboribul Pattaya foundation came to assist and help send the injured victims to Banglamung hospital.

One injured defendants, Mr. Pern, age 25, suffered a skull fracture and a broken arm, and was operated on at Chonburi hospital. The other injured defendant, Mr. Jia, age 25, got a broken left arm and a torn wound in his left knee. The doctor treated him, and Mr. Jia was in stable condition but still unconscious.

The detective police team of Banglamung police station restrained the 2 injured defendants in order to prosecute according to the law. Pol. Capt. Phithakthep Saithong, Deputy Inspector, Banglamung police station gave initial information that this Cambodian gang defendants had beaten and stabbed a Thai man to death.

The incident was triggered when the head of the gang, Mr. Wee, was having a quarrel with his girlfriend. But the Thai owner of the rental apartment in Soi Noree came to forbid the couple not to have a quarrel. This angered Mr. Wee and his friends, who used the knife to hack at the Thai landlord’s neck until he died.

After the killing, the police followed up and arrested Mr. Wee, the head of the gang. When caught, he implicated his friends who had made trouble together with him. The other 3 suspects had escaped to stay in the rental building in Soi south Pattaya 15.

So the police went to arrest them and detained 1 defendant, but the other 2 defendants ran away and jumped from the building to escape, but fell down from the third floor to the ground and got severely injured.

However, for all details of this case, the police superior, Pol. Col. Supphachai Phuikaewkham, Superintendent, Banglamung police station already acknowledged the matter and informed the media that he will report news about this case and the arresting of all trouble makers again soon.
