Murder for gold

The body of a 34 year old Thai man was discovered in suspicious circumstances with signs of injuries in the toilet tank of a construction camp in Na Gluea on the morning of Dec 10th

08.00 a.m. 10th December 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: Police Major Somnuek Jantged, Police Station Banglamung, along with Police Lieutenant Isaranuwan Jongaphichaigun, investigation official, and a team from the rescue foundation Pattaya, hurried to a crimse scene on the construction sight of company MLM, at Sukhumvit 8, Na Gluea, Banglamung, Chonburi, after having been notified by Mr. Sombat Kajonsombat 43, supervisor of the construction worker’s camps, who had found a body of a thai man, left in the toilet.

The body was found at a wooden camp sight of construction workers, with around 20 rooms, with the right leg emerging from the toilet tank. The body was identified as Mr. Wimon Kamgaew, 34, resising at 3 Moo 3 Namaang, Dron, Uttaradit. After bringing the body out of the toilet tank and investigating it, it turned out there there were wounds from a struggle. The body had been attacked with one critical wound on the head. The body was expected to have been dead for about 2-3 hours before found.

Mr. Sombat Kajonsombat, supervisor of the camps sais, he had just been assigned this job, as the former supervisor, Mr. Wimon Kamgaew, had dissapeared without a reason. Before the incident , at approximately 06.30 a.m., the substitue supervisor went to the toilet, where he then discovered the body, by seeing a leg emerge in the toilet tank.

Mr. Maakha 38, villager in the camp and foreman of the construction workers, said that Mr. Wimon Kamgaew was the foreman in his line of work as well. Usually there are around 10 workers residing in the camp, coming from different provinces. When there is no work they return home. Currently the workers have gone home as there is no work for them to do, therefore when the murder was comitted there were only 2 men resising on the camp sight. The victim, Mr. Wimon Kamgaew, and Mr. Sanya Janthai, age 30-35, who came from Nongkaai province to work as a carpenter for the construction compnay. After the murder, it turnerd out that Mr. Sanya Janthai was not to be found on the camp sight, he is therefore a suspect. He also stated that the victim, Mr. Wimon Kamgaew, wore a gold necklace worth 38,000 Baht, which was now gone. It is assumed that Mr. Wimon Kamgaew was murdered for his necklace. Mr. Sanya Janthai being the murder in this case.
