Previously the Chonburi governor had set up a subcommittee to control the motorcycle taxis. The subcommittee was to inspect all 55 stations along Pattaya 2nd road from Central Pattaya to Wat Chaimongkol temple. The stations will be licensed therefore the subcommittee had ordered the officers which consisted of soldiers, police and administrative officers to go and collect the data from each station. Previously they had informed the riders to be at their stations so that the officers can collect their data one by one.

Upon inspecting the officers found that most of stations had been installed on the footpath and the riders parked their bikes on the edge of the road. Therefore the officers painted parking areas for them. In addition some riders had ridden over the cc allowed for the motorcycles and some stations had been installed within 100 meters to each other which caused the riders to compete for customers. The subcommittee discussed this issue and they are to merge 2 stations into one. Plus some riders had complained that they need to increase the fare because of the high cost of living in Pattaya. They had asked for 40 baht for the starting price. The subcommittee will discuss about licensing them again on the 20th of July in order to inspect and license faster.
