Motorcycle Taxi Rider Caught Again For Extortion In Pattaya

Pattaya officials have arrested a motorcycle taxi rider after he had extorted money from other riders. He had been arrested for the same offence 3 weeks ago.

PATTAYA – September 5, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 12.30 pm Maj.Nopporn Suinghasut was accompanied with Mr.Pongtasit Pidjana-chief district of Bang Lamung- who led a team of soldiers and officials to arrest a Mr.Wanchai Lasopee aged 46 a motorcycle taxi rider after another rider had notified the police that he had been forced to pay Mr.Wanchai 1,500 baht a month like all the other riders.

 

Upon questioning Mr.Wanchai claimed that he had been arrested by the same officials on August 22nd and he was summoned by the chief district who banned him from riding his motorcycle. On the 1st of September he was able to return to work and he told his friends that he won’t take money from them again and didn’t understand why one of his friends had notified the police to arrest him again. However the police officers took him to be questioned further before they prosecute him in act of extortion.
