PATTAYA – April 25, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]: at 12:10 a.m., arrests were made of four teens on motorbikes after patrolling officers witnessed a necklace-snatching attempt on Pattaya Second Road.

Pattaya police officers with civil defense volunteer of Pattaya intercepted and arrested 3 male and a female teenager after they rode 2 motorcycles to snatch a gold necklace from a tourist who was sitting on a pick-up truck minibus near Big C, north Pattaya, Pattaya route 2 Rd.

The four suspects were under 20 years old. The police arrested them with the motorcycles but could not find the gold necklace that they had stolen. The gang confessed that they rode motorcycles to find victims, and they had done it many times.

They always searched for necklaces and bags of tourists in Pattaya, and would look for victims sitting on pick-up truck minibuses, or who were riding on a motorcycle and using shoulder bags or wearing gold necklaces. They would ride along each side of the targeted motorbike to sandwich the victim and snatch the property. The friends who came with them would help to protect each other. If they missed they would do it again.

Whenever they stole the properties, they would sell the properties and divided the money to spend like other teenagers.

But this time, their victim was on the pick-up truck minibus, and the necklace was stuck with the victim, and the police saw what they did, so they fled.

The police controlled all of them to investigate to expand the case, to question them about the properties they had stolen, in order to inform the past victims to come and identify them, and also to track down and arrest the rest of the gang.
