PATTAYA – August 6, 2012[Pattaya Daily News]; At 8:30 p.m., Pol. Capt. Jeerasak Aebfhaeng, investigation officer on duty, Banglamung police station, Chonburi province; was notified that a man was shot and severely injured. The shooting occurred near the front of the house of an employee of Wuthikorn shop, selling construction items, in Soi Tong Kao, Moo 5 Tambon Na Kleu, Amphur Banglamung.

Police rushed to scene, but found only a pool of blood and one slipper. The injured had already been sent to Banglamung hospital. The injured man was first discovered by Mr. Pongsakorn Akkarasriprae, 35, a passing motorbiker.

Mr. Pongsakorn told police that he was riding his motorbike back home and saw the injured man lying face down beside a fallen white Honda Wave 125 motorbike. He parked his motorbike to help the man, who was shot and severely injured with a lot of bleeding.

A passing motorbike rider also stopped to help, who was a volunteer of Sawangboribulthammasthan Pattaya foundation. An emergency ambulance was called to pick up the injured man. A teenager transported the injured man’s motorbike to an unknown location.

Local people who witnessed the shooting incident said they saw a motorbike rider speeding up to catch up to the victim from behind, and start firing a gun.

They described the assailant as being approximately 25- to 30-years-old. He was thin and tall, dark skinned and wearing a cap. He was riding a red-black Honda Wave 110 motorbike. No one got the license plate number.
They said the man fired six shots until the victim’s bike overturned. The gunman then fled on his motorbike.

Police later identified the victim as Mr. Kengkla or Keng Kitthamcharoen, age 29, address 140/61 Moo 2 Tambon Na Kleu, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.
Mr. Kengkla was shot three times in his stomach, two times in his right arm, and shot once in his neck. He remains in a coma, so doctors transferred him to Somdejratchathevi na Sriracha hospital.

Pol. Col. Somneuk Jankate, Superintendent, Banglamung police station, said that friends of the injured man told police that Mr. Kengkla had an ongoing quarrel with a rival. On a recent evening, Mr. Kengkla had fought with the rival in Nong Preu public garden, but the friends didn’t know which rival he had fought with.

Police also learned that Mr. Kengkla had divorced his wife, who now owns a bar in south Na Kleu. His ex-wife lives with a new husband, but she still contacts Mr. Kengkla occasionally. A background check of Mr. Kengkla also revealed he had been previously arrested on drug charges.

However, the police assume the cause of this shooting was from personal revenge or a love affair. The detective police team will follow up to arrest the gunman to prosecute further according to the law.
