SATTAHIP – February 9, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 2:30 p.m., a report of a motorbiker assaulted by a motorist after a minor collision was received by Pol. Capt. Theethat Taroonjan, investigation officer, Sattahip police station.

The victim was identified as Mr. Jeerawat Waijanya, age 28, an officer of the public health division, Phlutaluang Subdistrict Administrative Organization. With the victim was his older sister, Mrs. Wanna Singprayoon, age 47, living in Tambon Phlutaluang, Amphur Sattahip.

The pair had brought a video clip from a cellphone, shot other people who saw the road rage assault. A female passenger in the car appeared to be the girlfriend of the unidentified motorist. He was a middle-age man with glasses, wearing brown pants and a short-sleeve white polo shirt.

His car was a bronze Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and had the logo of a government organization. The car’s license plate number is CHOR JOR-1116 Bangkok.

The video clip showed both parties discussing the cause of the collision. The man initially appeared civil, but was angry, and acted unsatisfied about the scrape on his driver’s door, caused by Mr. Jeerawat’s motorbike, a black Yamaha Meo.

Although Mrs. Wanna and Mr. Jeerawat tried to negotiate a compromise for the damage, the car driver acted like a ruffian. The motorist said he won’t notify the police and won’t ask for indemnity, but instead he will punch Mr. Jeerawat’s face in exchange for his car being scraped.

Then he punched at Mr. Jeerawat’s face severely for several times. This attracted the attention of local people who saw the assault and ran up to stop him.

But when the motorist saw the local people, he asked them, “Why are you coming to be mixed up with us?” The locals then nearly got into a fight with the hostile motorist.

During questioning, Mr. Jeerawat told the police officer that because it was the Chinese New Year’s day, he was driving his motorbike to take his elder sister from their house, to do a merit at the temple.

On the way to the temple, he was driving his motorbike near the trouble maker’s car. But his motorbike was clipped by a bicycle, causing him to briefly lose control, so his motorbike scraped at the door of the man’s car.

The driver then stopped and angrily got out of his car. He pulled the neck of Mr. Jeerawat’s shirt and punched him in his face 5 times until there were big bruises.

The car driver also got into a quarrel with the local people who came to help Mr. Jeerawat. He almost fought with them too. But when the motorist saw he was outnumbered, he hurried to get back in his car and drove away quickly.
