Motorbike taxi ProtestGroup of over 500 motorbike taxi riders in Pattaya city had gathered outside city hall to ask for fairness because they still hadn’t received their yellow number plates.
PATTAYA – October 1st , 2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; in front of Pattaya City Hall, Chon Buri province, there was over 500 motorbike taxi riders who had gathered to ask for fairness from the government. They wanted the government agency to make an exception so that motorbike taxi riders who still hadn’t received their yellow license plates by the first of October wouldn’t be prosecuted.
One motorbike taxi rider said that he had already registered with the government agency but he still hadn’t received his yellow license plate along with over 50% of the other motorbike taxi riders. But from the 1st of October the police will be very strict in enforcing the new law will affect those without the yellow plates.
Sergeant Major 1st Class Thana Timkhaoprasert (Head of Operation Team of the 14th Military Circle) said that in area of Pattaya city and the nearby areas there are over 14,000 motorbike taxi riders which at present Chonburi Provincial Land Transport had already given yellow license plates to over 3,000 people and will be sending a further 5,000 out very soon. However he went on to say that if the riders carry their documents with them saying that they have registered for a yellow plate but hadn’t received it yet they won’t be prosecuted.
