Motorbike Snatchers Hit Truck Following Robbery Attempt In Pattaya

On Friday afternoon (13th february 2009) two motorbike snatch thieves ran into a pick up truck and were seriously injured following an unsuccessful robbery attempt on a German tourist in Pattaya.

A police and rescue team rushed to investigate a report received at 3:00 pm by Pattaya Deputy Investigator Pol. Lt. Col. Sutham Chowsrithong concerning a road accident on Pattaya Third Road.

The accident took place in front of the ” Gow Rai” , 3rd road, Moo. 9, Nongprue, Banglamung. Police found a red and black Honda Sonic motorbike No. 187 Chonburi and a blue –grey Mitsubishi Strada truck , No. 890 Bangkok which belonged to Mrs. Chaweewan Bill [43] , the driver. Both vehicles were badly damaged.

At the scene police also found Mr. Arun and Mr. Diew, both aged in their 30s, lying on the ground in critical condition. They were immediately taken to Pattaya Memorial Hospital.

On searching the area, the police found a fake 9mm gun and Pol. Lt. Col. Sutham revealed that the two men were known robbers with a string of offences including one committed on the day of the accident when they unsuccessfully targeted a German tourist on North Pattaya Road, Naklua.

While they were riding along Pattaya Third Road, the two men spotted the police and sped away at high speed causing them to crash into the truck.

Police said they will be brought to justice once they have recovered from their injuries.
