Montreal College shooting one killed and several injured

MONTREAL - A gunman opened fire at 12:45 p.m. (1645 GMT) at Dawson College, an English language school in downtown Montreal with some 10,000 students. The guy dressed black and a mohawk haircut fire shots on Wednesday at a Montreal college, killing a woman and injured other 19. In the end he was shot and killed by the police, witnesses and authorities said.

Police does not feel that it is a terrorist attacked at downtown Dawson College, students ran out into the streets when shooting start. They were terrified and had clothes stained with blood crying and hunging on to one another. Shopping centers and a daycare center near by were asked to evacuate and subway service was closed.

One witness said that he was horified as the guy was shooting at everybody he didn‘t care who he was shooting at and the police were in turn shooting at him it was really crazy.

Officer said that the 25 year old boy carried a rifle and other weapons but did not go on to elaborate.

Witnesses said that the boy started his fires from outside the college before he walk into the front door. The shooting occured mostly on the second-floor cafeteria, where students lay low on the floor terrified. Teachers ran down the hallway giving instruction for everyone to get out of the building.

Montreal Police Chief Yvan Delorme said the attacker was shooting at no one in particular, until he spotted the police and start shooting at them.

Police exchanged fire with the gunman, whose was hiding behind a vending machine. A student witness said that the officers were very careful because there were many students who were around the assailant, the gunmen went down on several shots made by the police.

Sources said that the attacker was from the Montreal area, but his personal details was not reveal. His car was still parked at the school and police were searching his apartment.

He said 20 victims were in hospital following the shooting, and that some arrived in ambulances and others by their own means. 11 people were admitted to Montreal Hosipal, eight of whom were in critical condition. Nine others were taken to two other hospitals. A young woman later died.

The shooting recalled the 1999 attack at Columbine High School in Colorado, where two students wearing trench coats killed 13 people before committing suicide.

Canada‘s worst mass shooting also happened in Montreal. Gunman Marc Lepine killed 14 women at the Ecole Polytechnic on Dec. 6, 1989, before shooting himself.
