Monks Inspected After Collecting Money From Villagers

The officials of Sattahip inspected a group of monks after they were notified by local villagers that the monks had collected money form the villagers.

SATTAHIP – November 6, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 11.30 am Mr.Pawat Lerdmukda-chief district of Sattahip- was notified by villagers that some monks had collected donations from the villagers on a local road.

 

Later he ordered Ms.Chawat Thepthap-deputy chief of the stabilisation division- to lead a team to inspect. The officials found 5 monks who had collected money from the villagers at the beginning of Soi Khaomon road so they inspected them. Upon inspecting the monks they had monkhood ID cards and they had come from Loei province. Plus they claimed that they hadn’t collected any money from the villagers. But the officials warned them not to collect money because it was wrong according to the monks regulations.

Mr.Pawat revealed that nowadays Sattahip was a target for criminals who pretended to be monks so they can collect money from local villagers. Previously the police had arrested some people who acted in this way in Sattahip and the police would like to warn people not to give them money and if they see anyone acting suspiciously they are to contact the police.
