Monks Caught Red Handed Consuming Drugs

Police officers have arrested 3 monks in Rayong province after they were informed by local villagers that the monks in the temple were consuming drugs.

RAYONG – August 2, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News];- at 09.00 am Pol.Lt.Col.Badindech Sangarunthawee-inspector-, Pol.Capt.Noppadol Budwong-deputy inspector-, Pol.Maj.Woradech Pongthong, POL.SEN.SGT.MAJ.Bunpot Mukdasanit, POL.SGT.Wachirachai Jumchart arrested Mr.Montri (Tri) Palacheewa aged 28, Mr.Nattawut Donsophon aged 20 and Mr.Somboon Jaiyai aged 25 with 8 amphetamines and a plastic powder bottle.


Pol.Lt.Col.Badindech said that he was notified that the monks who were in Samyak Numpen temple had consumed drugs. Therefore the police officers had monitored them for a while and they found that Mr.Montri who was a monk was waiting beside the temple wall when some teenagers threw over the wall into the temple.

Mr.Montri then picked up the object and walked into the temple where he met the police officers so he tried to throw it away. The officers picked the object up and found it contained 8 amphetamine pills which were hidden in a bottle of powder. Later Mr.Montri confessed that he bought amphetamines from Mr.Kob.


Also the police performed drug test on the monks in the temple where they found another 2 monks identified as Mr.Nattawut Donsophon and Mr.Somboon Jaiyai who failed the test. Initially the police prosecuted them in act of holding and consuming drugs.
