Monkeys Raid Village For Food

Almost 50 monkeys on Laem Pu Jao Mountain have raided a village in Sattahip searching for food. Local people told reporters that they come down every day and some have even broke into houses stealing food and damaging people’s belongings.

SATTAHIP – July 28, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 5.00 p.m., journalist of Pattaya Daily News reported that people in the central house of navy and the house of Industrial Department, Sattahip Naval Base, Moo 2 Tambon Sattahip, Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province, that almost 50 monkeys had come down from the mountain and got into their houses searching for food because they were starving. The monkeys stole food from the kitchen and also stole and damage property in the house.

Upon inspecting at scene, the journalists found a lot of monkeys that were searching in the piles of rubbish looking for rotten food. Also some monkeys had broken into some people’s homes stealing food and damaging property.

The journalist questioned a housewife of a sailor and she said that the monkeys had come from Laem Pu Jao mountain and various surrounding mountains and everyday they would come and search in the piles of rubbish looking for food to eat. Some of the local people had even given them food which had encouraged them to come out of the forest even more.
