PATTAYA – October 3, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]: at 12:30 a.m., a report of a man using a knife in a robbery attempt was received by Pol. Lt. Col. Kiattisak Sratong-Oi, vice director of suppression division, Muang Pattaya police station. He rushed to the scene with Pol. Lt. Capt. Wissanu Chaisuwarn, vice suppression inspector; along with patrolling forces, police volunteers, and the Pattaya Civil Defense volunteers.

The armed robbery occurred at the top of soi 11, south Pattaya, moo 10, Nong Prue, Banlamoong, Chonburi. Waiting for the police was the victim, Ms. Patitta, age 30, who was still in shock.

Ms. Pattita told police that she had parked her bicycle at the top of the soi, and was crossing the street to go back to her dress-rental shop. Then she saw a tall, dark teenager quickly approaching her. He was wearing black jeans, a blue shirt, slippers, and had a tattoo near his left eye.

The teen then pointed his knife at her and grabbed her bag, which contained two phones, a camera and some important documents. The robber then ran to the nearby market fair.

So police officers and police volunteers mobilized to hunt the criminal. They found the suspect running into the market fair and arrested him. They seized a Sparta knife that he used to rob the victim.

The suspect was identified as Mr. Warun, age 20, and he was confirmed as the robber by the victim. While running away, Mr. Warun had hidden some of the victim’s stolen property in a merchant’s stall, and the rest he left in front of a nearby beauty salon. Police seized the recovered property as evidence.

During questioning, Mr. Warun claimed that he had been a magician, and performed magic shows for foreign tourists on Walking Street. He had been living with his uncle for a while, until he was arrested by police for drug charges. When he got out of jail, Mr. Warun had no work or income. He also felt stressed after a quarrel with his girlfriend, so he decided to rob someone.

Police sent the suspect to Muang Pattaya police station to prosecute further according to the law.
