Modified Fishing Boat Caught Smuggling Diesel Oil

A Royal Navy fighter Pairin which was patrolling the territorial waters of Map Ta Phut, Rayong found a fishing boat which had been modified for smuggling white oil (Diesel oil) and green oil in order to distribute and sell it illegally.

PATTAYA – May 9, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 09.30, V.Adm.Veeraphan Sukkon – The Commander Naval Region 1 was informed from Lt.Comdr Aeksiam Yaemsumruad – The Commander of the Royal Navy Fighter Pairin that while patrolling in the territorial waters in the area of Map Ta Phut, Rayong they found a fishing boat which looked abnormal because there was no fishing equipment and had a small crew which is not typical of a fishing boat.

Upon inspection they found that the boat had been modified to smuggled white oil (Diesel oil) and green oil in order to distribute it and sell it illegally. The boat and its 3 crew were taken to Sattahip port. The crew were identified as a Mr Thongsuk Khumchu aged 45, Mr Surasak Jubmatha aged 21 and Mr .Kumken Sringam aged 31.

Upon questioning Mr Thongsuk khumchu he said that the boat was modified for oil transportation from the port of Ban Phe, Rayong. On May 8, 2014 they went out to sea to meet a foreign tanker which was waiting for them so they could collect 8500 litres of oil to be sold to a fishing boats. Initially, the judge advocate of the military had records in his possession of the smuggled goods (oil) and delivered them to the customs and excise of Chon Buri to perform the steps of the law.
