Minibus Driver Blamed As BurglarPattaya minibus driver handed in dropped bag to officer; however, he was almost blamed as thief.
PATTAYA – December 7,2016 [PattayaDailyNews]; at 13.00pm Pattaya tourist police summoned a minibus driver No.402 to question after he handed in dropped bag of tourist to the officers but the owner claimed some items lost.
Mr Phonthip Chuanchailuk 46-year-old minibus driver went to meet police officers with his friends to clarify the truth. Later Mr Phonthip disclosed with journalists that he picked up a group of Japanese passengers on 5 December at 02.00am to drop them at D Varee hotel.
At 04.00am, he just found a black bag on the back so he opened to check and found passport, driving license and 21,020 baht so he drove to the hotel in order to hand in the bag to the owner.
However, the hotel staff told him that he can’t wake the guest because he was really intoxicated. He decided to keep the bag because he would like to hand in the bag to the owner by himself and he left his phone number and minibus no with hotel staff.
Mr Phonthip added that several hours passed but no one from hotel contacted him but Pattaya minibus cooperative contacted him to go to police station. He went to that hotel and he found out that the staff lost his number.
However, the owner claimed that there were 70,000 baht in the bag and Casio watch. Mr Phonthip told the truth to the owner and he understood and appreciate it.
