Mentally Unstable Man Drowns In Pattaya Pond

A mentally disturbed Pattaya man "swam" in the pond, sank and disappeared for a day before floating to the surface. The relatives found the corpse floating in the middle of the pond. The police confirms, the case is a drowning accident.

Pattaya, December 19, 2011[Pattaya Daily News]; Mr. Sanit Boonmachai, Pattaya City Council, Chonburi province, with Sawangboribul Rescue Team and the Sea Rescue with frogman and police from Huay Yai police station inspected the pond near Pattaya City Kam Ling Project beside the the railway, close to Soi Khao Makok 14 Moo 4, Banglamung after the locals reported that they found a corpse floating in the pond.

At the accident scene they found the body of Mr. Preecha Kongjeep or “Cha” age 42, in short yellow pants with no shirt, floating in the middle of the pond which measures 21 rais and 50 meter in depth.

 

The rescue went out to pick up the corpse by boat. The dead man’s relatives came to see the body. The inspection showed that the dead body had faded skin and was swollen. And there was a foul smell from the body which had been immersed in the water for more than 24 hours . There were no traces of violence to the body.

Ms. Narissara Ngarmjansri, the niece of the dead man said, that Mr. Preecha or “Cha” was her uncle who lived in a house near the pond. Mr. Preecha was single and mentallly unstable. Normally he never went far away from his house until the afternoon of December 18, 2011 After Mr. Preecha had disappeared the relatives tried to find him but to no avail until they discovered his slippers by the pond.

They thought that Mr. Preecha went for a swim in the pond and might have drowned. They notified the rescue team to find his body – but they couldn’t find him because the pond is deep and wide. But the next day his corpse floated to the surface of the pond. The relatives of Mr. Preecha believe that he went into the pond but since he could not swim, he panicked, got a cramp and drowned. The officer took the necessary notes and gave the the corpse to the relatives to perform the last rites.
