Pattaya, 22nd Dec 2010 (PDN) At the Pattaya City Hall, Mayor Ithiphon Khunpluem and members of the city council presented a Big Bike motorcycle worth 1.3million Baht to the Pattaya police. At the ceremony were Police Lieutenant General, Naphawut Suwanlaorng, Police Lieutenant General Kritsakorn Thonginn, Police Lieutenant General Thanaphong Photi, and many traffic police officers.

The mayor said that he recognized the importance of the Traffic Police, in providing security in Pattaya for the likes of his majesty the king, the queen and the royal family, and other dignitaries. To accomplish this goal of providing perfect security the city had purchased the Yamaha bike.

The bike has a 4 cylinder 1300 cc engine and has a high speed of 280 km/h and is equipped with sirens, loudspeakers and radio communication. It also has an aerodynamic driver safety system. At high speed the windshield automatically adjusts to the wind direction, which keeps the vehicle in balance and avoids the risk of buffeting and increases driving performance and stability.

Police Lieutenant General Mr. Naphawut Suwanlaorng from the Pattaya Police Station said he had to thank the mayor and everyone else who helped make this possible and for recognizing the importance of the traffic police. He assured the mayor that the bike would be used to help secure the safety of the royal family and dignitaries when on the roads of Pattaya, which he viewed as a matter of great priority, and added that the bike could be used elsewhere in the country in the future.
