Man Steals Coins From Cell Phone Refill Machine Caught on CCTV

Pattaya police arrested a thief using a plastic plate to block for the change hole of a mobile phone refill dispenser. His crime was captured on CCTV. The criminal confesses. He said he was he was unemployed and had no money for food.

Pattaya, December 15, 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pattaya police, Chonburi province was notified by staff from the minimart convenience store at Soi Chalermprakiert 35, Third Road Pattaya.

At the crime scene the police found the man standing at the mobile phone refill machine and upon searching his body the police found ten,five and one THB coins totalling 200 THB also two sharp wooden sticks, a piece of wire, two plastic plates. All the items were kept as evidence.

Upon investigation the suspect named Mr. La-ead Jansai age 40 confessed to the crime saying that he was unemployed and came up with this method to find money to buy food.

His modus operandi: Use a plastic plate to put in the change drop. After “fixing” six machine he would return in the evening and use the a wooden stick to pull out plate.

He collected for 200-300 THB daily and had been “fixing” the machines one week without knowing was on TV – CCTV!

The police detained Mr. La-ead with the evidence. He will be investigated and be prosecuted according to the law.
