Man Shot In The Back By Policeman

A 15 year old Thai boy was returning from a game of snooker with his colleague as pillion, when they were pulled over by a police officer and police volunteers in a quiet, deserted lane, whereupon he was shot in the back.

PATTAYA – March 11, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]: at 04.00, Pol.Lt.Col.Winai Horian, detective officer, Nongprue Banglamung, reported from Banglamung police station that there was a wounded person, shot and seriously injured, recuperating in the hospital.

The victim, Anant Buangam, a 22 years old male, was shot in the back, where the bullet lodged against his nervous system. He was taken to Chonburi hospital. The police that attended the hospital interviewed the victim’s friend, Mr Sarit Shitawong, the pillion passenger. His statement read that after playing snooker behind Thamm Temple, they were stopped by a policeman and three civil volunteers. He heard a gunshot, saw his friend fall from the bike, and then the policeman attempted to put drugs into his hand. Some locals came out to investigate the situation, whereupon the victim was taken to hospital.

The statement was taken down in the police journal, and have promised to look into which officer and civil volunteers were on duty at that time. The mother of the victim, Mrs Prayoon Jansang, 48 years old, said that her son had never been involved with drugs. She has demanded justice for her son, and begged the police not to hide the identity of the dirty cop.
