Man Shot After Honking His Horn To Pay Respect To A shrine In Pattaya

A man who honked his horn to pay respect to a shrine whilst he was riding his motorbike with his girlfriend was shot twice by a gunman in a white car. The gunman then fled the scene.

PATTAYA – July 14, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 8.30 p.m., Pol.Lt.Col. Winai Ho-rian (Inquiry official of Nong Prue police station, Chonburi province) was notified that a man had been shot whilst riding his motorbike and had asked for assistance from some local people in the area of the shipyard, Khao Ma Kok community, Tambon Huay Yai, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province. He then rushed to the scene together with the detective police team and the rescuers of Sawang Boriboon Tharmma Satharn Foundation, Pattaya city.

 

At the incident the officers found an injured man identified as Mr. Damrongsak Sakkaew, aged 27, who had been shot in the shoulder and his left arm with a 9mm gun. The rescuers performed first aid on him before sending him to Banglamung hospital.

 

Miss Waraporn Chatsri, aged 26, who is a girlfriend of the injured man who was riding pillion told the police that before incident occurred Mr. Damrongsak had picked her up from Nong Jab Tao, Amphur Sattahip, to take her to see her in Pattaya city but when they arrived at the shrine of Jao Phor Hao Dong Mr. Damrongsak honked his horn in order to pay respect to the shrine but some male teenagers who were riding 2 motorbikes misunderstood and thought that Mr. Damrongsak wanted to start trouble with them. They then rode along side Mr. Damrongsak and asked why he honked his horn when a white car which might have been a friend of the teenagers sped up and drove along side them until they reached the railway at the edge of Huay Yai. The car driver took out a gun and shot Mr. Damrongsak twice before fleeing the scene.

 

Initially, the police inspected the scene and found one 9 mm bullet shell on the ground which they kept for evidence. However, the officers will investigate Mr. Damrongsak to see whether he has any previous problems with anybody before sending out a team of detectives to hunt and arrest the gunman.
