Man Dragged 10 Meters Under Car By Drunk Driver

A car driver who left the Chomprai Restaurant at 2.30 this morning, in a drunken state, hit the motorbike of a factory man, severely damaging it and dragging the man who was stuck under the car, 10 meters before finally stopping.

Pattaya, the 18th of January 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Police Lt. Ekkachai Moonlee (Sattahip Police Investigator), was notified of the accident involving a car and a motorbike which happened at approximately 2.30 am on the 178, Sattahip-Pattaya route by the u-turn junction opposite Udomsak Village, Sattahip. The officer immediately went to the scene along with the Sawang Rojjanatham Team.

At the scene of the accident, the officer discovered Mr. Prapoi Phimpha [19] (a staff member of Sea-on Advance Polimix,) lying seriously injured on the road beside the u-turn junction and suffering massive blood loss. His legs and right arm were broken and nearby was a green Honda Sonic motorbike without a registration plate and in a completely damaged state. The medical team of Sawang Rojjanatham administered first aid before taking him to the Queen Sirikit Hospital in Sattahip for treatment.

 

Information retrieved from local witnesses, stated that they saw the motorbike coming from the direction of Sattahip Market and making a u-turn when a black car came from the Chomprai Restaurant at high speed, colliding with the motorbike and dragging the rider 10 meters before stopping. The driver did not exit the car, but continued to drive away in the direction of the Sattahip Market.

The police interrogated a waiter at the restaurant who claimed that a man in his thirties had been drinking alone at the establishment since early evening and had left in an intoxicated state.

The Police are now investigating the incident and after interviewing all witnesses, expect to make an arrest.
