PATTAYA – April 4, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; A report of someone firing a warning shot at a traffic intersection on a motorized trike was received by Pol. Col. Yongyuth Warnnuea, vice suppression officer of Muang Pattaya police station, Chonburi.

The incident occurred at the traffic light junction near Mum Aroi, central Pattaya route 3. Police officers went to check and dispersed all the authorities and civil volunteers to find and intercept spots along the routes the suspect had used to escape.

At the scene, officers found four 9 mm bullet shells on the ground, which they seized as evidence. No injuries had been reported.

Officers on the road spotted the tricycle on Sukhumvit Road heading to Sattahip. Police followed the trike and then stopped it near the Muang Pattaya 7 school. The tricycle had been converted from a blue Honda Wave motorbike.

There were five people on the tricycle, 4 men and a woman. Police body searched the men, and found the gun bag attached to the waist of Mr. Sarawut Jarernklang, 40 years old, living in Huay Yai, Banglamung.

The police did not find the gun on the men, but found a spent bullet shell in the tricycle. However, the female was acting suspicious, so the police asked to search her, and found a 9 mm gun.

The female was identified as Ms. Thanyaluck Phaoshit, 19 years old, living in Nakluea, Banglamung. So the police took all of them to the police station to question.

During questioning, Mr. Sarawut confessed that the gun belonged to him, and he was the one who fired the gun at the sky. He told police that they had been inside a pub when his enemy came to the same pub. His adversary was with a big group, and they glared at Mr. Sarawut with threatening looks.

Then Mr. Sarawut left the pub, riding in the tricycle of his friend. When Mr. Sarawut reached the junction, he fired his gun in the air just to threaten the hostile group and scare them off. Mr. Sarawut then forced Ms. Thanyaluck to hold his gun, because he thought the police would not search her.

But finally they got caught. Mr. Sarawut told police that his friends did not have anything to do with his making trouble. The police wrote in the journal and sent them all to the detective officers to prosecute.
