At 9.00 pm Banglamung police investigator, Pol.Maj. Kamon Taweesri, was on duty at the police station when a man arrived by car [Honda Civic No. 9771] to visit Mr. A-pai Dornhee or Ek, the suspect of a drug case who had been arrested earlier on the same day.

Pol.Maj. Kamon had noticed that the visitor was acting suspiciously while talking to Mr. A-pai. He then approached the man who was identified as Mr. Artit Raksorn or Jiab [23] , residing at 21/83 Moo. 10 Nongprue, and asked for his identity card and searched his pockets. Police found 1.3 gm of Yah Ice (Crystal Methamphetamine) and 5 tablets of Ecstacy hidden in his pocket which were duly confiscated as evidence.

Mr. Artit confessed that he was asked by Mrs. Pe Nong-Yai, the wife of Mr. A-pai Dornhee to visit him for her. He said it was careless of him to carry the drugs with him and explained he bought them from a friend at the Slim Pub at the RCA entertainment area in Bangkok. He paid 1,000 Baht for one tablet of Ecstacy and 4000 Baht for one gram of Yah Ice.

Pol.Maj. Kamon said he didn’t believe Mr. Artit and assumed he had brought the drugs for Mr. A-pai. Police arrested him and he is now under investigation

In a related incident at 7.30 pm the next day (19th February) Pol.Lt.Col. Paskorn Paijit, a police investigator from The Investigation Center, Division Region 2 and Police Inspector Pol.Capt Prinya Detthamarit, were informed that a drug dealer was operating in the area of Nong Pla Lai, Banglamung, Chonburi. An undercover officer was sent to investigate.

Once police had discovered the operation was run by Mr. Ohng [real named is not identified] they arranged a sting operation to buy 200 tablets of Yah Bah and arranged for the delivery of the drugs at a shack with no number, in the middle of a fruit farm in the area of Moo. 1, Nang Pla Lai.

At the agreed time, two men arrived on a motorbike and showed the tablets to the police agent at which point a police team sprung from the bushes where they had been hiding and arrested the two men who were identified as Mr. Wina or Noo Rodthongkum [30] residing at 54/1 Moo. 7 , Nong Pal Lai and Mr. Arnon or Nong Boongor [29] , residing at 35/2 Moo. 3 , Nong Pal Lai.

Police confiscated 188 tablets of Yah Bah which were packed in a blue plastic bag as evidence.

Pol. Lt. Col Paskorn revealed that the two men were in an advanced stage of drug addiction and had confessed they’d been delivering drugs for Mr. Ohng, the local area’s drug dealer, for quite a while. They normally worked collecting second-hand goods. Mr. Ohng paid them 1,000 Baht each (depending on the amount of the drugs) and most of the time they were paid with Yah Bah.

During further investigation police discovered that Mr. Ohng was an agent of Mr. A-pai’s who was already in police custody. Mr. Ohng managed to escape before police could arrest him.

Police have vowed to continue cleaning up the area by searching for drug dealers and bringing them to justice.
