Pattaya, 26th of January 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Police Lieutenant Colonel Prakob Saengpring (Huay Yai Police Investigator) and Major Phaksuwat Chomthanon (Huay Yai Police Superintendent) along with a team of investigators held a press conference to announce the successful apprehension of Miss Pornnapha Uh-on [42] from Chon-Buri. Miss Uh-on was known to police as a con-artist and fraudster operating in Huay Yai and surrounding districts preying on wealthy businessmen, policemen, teachers and other officious men in order to deceive and rob them of their valuables, money and vehicles.

It has been revealed by one of Miss Uh-on’s victims that she would pose as a cosmetic sales woman in order to meet and befriend wealthy men. After successfully striking up conversations with the men she would begin dating them and after gaining their trust, she would drug them with the sleeping pill Alprasolam. After the men had been drugged Miss Uh-on would then steal all their money, valuables and even their vehicles.

Miss Uh-on became known to police after Mr. Sak (alias), a teacher from a Pattaya school informed them of his experience with her. Mr. Sak explained that he had been drugged by Miss Uh-on at which point she stole his valuables and a black Dual-Cab Mitsubishi Triton Pick-up. The incident occurred in a motel opposite the Ambasador Hotel off Sukhumvit Road, Jomtien. Mr. Sak was able to provide a detailed sketch of the suspect which enabled police to begin an extensive investigation and subsequently apprehend Miss Uh-on.

Maj. Chomthanon headed a taskforce entrusted with the capture of Miss Uh-on, who they were able to track down to a rental house in Plutaluang, Sattahip. Obtaining a warrant for her arrest, the police taskforce searched the residence arresting Miss Uh-on on theft charges in relation to Mr. Sak’s case.

Miss Uh-on claimed when interrogated that she had become a compulsive gambler in illegal casinos and other enterprises, preying on victims in the Pattaya, Sattahip and Sriracha area when she had run out of money. She admitted that she specifically targeted wealthy men and officials as she believed that they were less likely to go to police for fear of “losing face.”

Miss Uh-on explained that on up to 10 occasions she had deceived her victims taking them to a hotel in order to drug them and rob them of their valuables and car. She explained that she would sell t-he vehicles for between 100,000-200,000 baht which she would then use to continue her gambling throughout the Chon-Buri region.

After Huay Yai police have completed their investigations and charged Miss Uh-on she will be handed to the other district stations who have charges pending against her.
